I was at the Goodwill in Hamden, CT this weekend and I saw this flyer and just had to share it with you. Some of the ideas are a little corny (please see the "old man" costume) but I liked a few of them and I figured it might be a good place for us all to start. I tried to make it big enough to read, but it was kind of difficult, regardless of size, so here are the categories as is from the flyer (I didn't bother to copy edit so don't sue me if things are grammatically funky).
Mummy - sheets (tear up and wrap around the body)
Nerd - high-water pants, white shirt, bow tie, white socks, black shoes, dark frame glasses with masking tape on the nose piece
Old Man - older looking clothers, glasses, old shoes, cane
Old Woman - long dress, wig, handbag, umbrella, shoes
Scarecrow - add patches to jeans and flannel shirts
Tacky Man or Woman - just buy mismatched clothes
Witch - black clothes, cape, witch's hat, broom
Ghost - sheet (make sure to cut big holes for eyes)
Zorro - black clothing, black hat, mask, cape (dye an old sheet)
1950s Look - untucked, solid color button-down shirt; jeans rolled up to mid-calf, white socks, penny loafters; girls wear hair in pony tail; boys wear greased, slicked-back ducktail
Cowgirl/Cowboy - jeans, western shirt, boots, western hat, scarf, bandana
Rapper - large jeans, large shirt, baseball cap worn sideways or backwards
Hippie - bellbottoms, long jeans or peasant dress, love beads ( long necklace peace buttons, pink tinted glasses)
Hobo - large men's pants, large dark sport coat, shirt and patches
