Hi guys.  I've been going crazy with all the college move outs I'm up to my elbows in trash picking.  I've come across some great stuff, even snagged a yoga mat.  Gonna get my meditation on.  But now that the college kids have left, the well seems to have run dry.  Any body got any suggestions about what traditionally are good dumpster diving haunts?

Depends on where you live and where you plan on looking. College towns are awesome for dumpster diving, and so are cities. A sure way that should work no matter where you are is to contact the town halls in your area and find out when they schedule large garbage collection days. Many have a monthly routine, and a schedule will help you coordinate your dives. Some finds are so sweet its like trick or treating for adults!

I heard a site called www.freecycle.org is pretty good too and  www.craigslist.org for your area might have stuff.

Well, if the college kids are all gone, I would just keep my eye open for large trash pick up days and also watch any apartment complexes in your neighborhood.  I think taht people tend to throw more stuff away in dumpsters than in personal trahs cans.  I've tried free cycle.  It works and you get free stuff but...it doesn't have the same thrill of the hunt, the rush of the unexpected.  Plus, you don't get the smug satisfaction of salvaging something cool that other people overlooked as junk.  You know, if you're into that kind of thing.
