Papercuts (The Good Kind)

After perusing the world wide internet today, I’ve decided that we all need to turn our attention to Annie Vought, the artist behind “Papercuts.” Her…sculpture I guess you would call it? is innovative and there’s something conspiritorial about it. She does large displays of cut out paper words and images pinned to a white wall to give a three dimensional effect to things we often over look, like the physical appearance of a written word, or the satisfying geometry of a piece of notebook paper. And, the intimacy of a letter is just so delicious. Do you doubt? Well then I’ll let these pictures do talking.

Cheap Chic

I came across a blog for the Thrifty Knitter the other day, a.k.a. Nikol Lohr (author of Naughty Needles) and I thought to myself, “Well hell’s bells; doesn’t this look like a site my Pack Ratters would love?” (And I swear to you, I honestly thought that semicolon.) The Thrifty Knitter is Nikol’s romp into the land O’ knitting as she tries to keep her projects on the affordable side. There’s even a few posts that, like Pack Rat, show how much (or rather, how little) she paid to make a project as is the case with the Inca Tank Top below which cost $12-$14 (the picture above is of the mascot/logo she knitted). And almost every project she blogs about comes fully equipped with a free pattern. I know, I can feel the excitement radiating off you knitters.
