Sew Sweet

Speaking of Halloween and crafting, use the holiday as an excuse to cruise over to Burda Style, your main stop for open source sewing patterns. What do I mean by open source? Well you’ve heard of open source software, right? Burda is in the same vein, it’s unlicensed sewing patterns made by the people for the people. So if you love to sew but have moths in you pockets (i.e. are broke), this is a great resource. And as I was saying before, speaking of Halloween, check out this super cute Alice Dress I found on their site.

Crafter’s Paradise

Halloween is THE holiday for all of us DIYers. Costume sewing, pumpkin carving, all those ways to make fake blood and guts. And the gurus over at Craft Zine have seen fit to offer up some major challenges that’ll get us in the right frame of mind. Check out their DIY Halloween Contest full of fun categories and cool prizes. Plus, if they like what you’re doing, you might even be featured in their magazine. Who doesn’t love a little self promotion?
