img_2496.jpg If you’ve been reading my blog then you remember in my Get up! Stand up! blog I pondered on the idea of using craft to make a difference in your community. Well, the members of 25 Things for Charity have taken that idea from theory and made it a reality. Open to everyone, 25 Things is a community of crafters who have made the committment to make 25 different projects for charity within a 12 month window. Inspiring and intimidating, this blog is a meeting ground where crafters can help bloster each others confidence, share patterns and ideas and keep the momentum going to meet their goal of 25. The goal is conveniently open ended in that members can donate to any charity of their choice, but the mission is the same. To create for a cause, to use some of your most valuable skills such as your imagination and handiness in the service of something other than yourself. And don’t worry if you aren’t sure where to donate, the blog is full of great ideas for national and international charities alike. Maybe, like myself, you know there is no way you can do 25 things in a year. No harm done, just do as many as you can. You don’t have to even sign up if you feel too intimidated. Just use the blog as a jumping off point and do what you can to make a change in your world. If you didn’t keep your New Year’s resolution this year, consider revising it to include 25 Things. Check out an example of what some people are donating, above.
