Above is a quote from the classic film, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. When I was a senior in high school, someone threw this line out and then asked, “What’s that from?” No one knew and it actively plagued me for six years (I tend to over focus). Then, a few months ago Bravo played ol’ Pee Wee, I heard it and I was set free. And that, boys and girls is a mighty weird segway into the website I want to tell you about, diysearch.org whose motto, uncoincidently, is “I don’t need you.” Run by a guy named David Palmer and his friends, diysearch is to diy projects what thirftyplant.com is to thrift stores and the IF directory at craftrevolution.com is to indie vendors. I.e. it is a helpful search engine. What’s cool about it, besides that you can cut google out of the search equation (and lets all be real about how helpful google searches aren’t some times), is that you can also create an account and link to your own craft page. Plus, its not really girlie in any way and some times you just need to escape the pink (I say this in a self depricating way, of course.)
